The Peer Advising Program

Peer Advisors serve as members of the Undergraduate Advising Services staff and assist students in the College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences, and the College of Science and Mathematics. They are upper classmen at CSUSM, providing students a unique opportunity to work with someone who relates to their questions and needs. The Peer Advisors focus on supporting new and continuing students as they transition to university life at CSUSM in the following areas:

  • Utilize and teach students how to use academic tools, such as the Academic Requirements Report, Degree Planner, and Schedule Assistant
  • Reference campus-wide resources (i.e. Math Lab, STEM Center, Writing Center, Language Learning Center, and many more)
  • Assist students with navigating their MyCSUSM account to add/drop courses, change major/minor, and search the class schedule
  • Share information about university policies and deadlines
  • Provide program support and student outreach via workshops, email, etc.

Students are welcome to meet with a Peer Advisor, call or email for general advising questions.
