Human Resources & Equal Opportunity in conjunction with various agencies and departments provides a wide range of training opportunities to employees.   Workshops are provided at no cost to individuals or departments unless otherwise indicated. To register for workshops and training sessions see RSVP instructions for that event. New employee orientations are offered twice a month. For orientation dates, please review the new employee orientation schedule.

Defensive Driving                                                                                                                                                               Any state employee (staff/faculty/volunteer/student employee) who drives a state vehicle, powered cart or drives their own personal vehicle on university business must complete this program. For training dates and times click here. Documents to bring to the training is a copy of your drivers license, copy of proof of insurance and the STD 261 form signed by your Manager. This participatory workshop is designed to assist managers with  understanding and applying progressive discipline procedures.  Topics include causes for disciplinary action, due process rights, application of procedures, counseling and reprimands, and the role of managers, Human Resources, the Chancellor’s Office and the State Personnel Board. This training will be an introduction and overview of campus policies and procedures including Computer Equipment Access Policy, Confidentiality of Employee, Faculty and Student Data, Conflict of Interest/Ethics training and Incompatible Activities, Discrimination and Sexual Harassment, California Whistleblower Protection Act, and Workplace Violence prevention.  Compliance training is a requirement for all employees.  Employees who have attended New Employee Orientation will not need to re-take this training.
