I joined the Sociology Department in the Fall of 2007 upon completing my doctorate at Texas A&M University after many years of community college courses. My research and teaching interests include racial and ethnic studies, critical criminology, sociology of law, police studies, critical race theory, and qualitative methodology. I’m especially interested in racialization and criminalization processes in the criminal justice system, such as racial profiling. Recent research includes:
