Special Situations For

CLASS SECTIONS MEETING THREE (3) HOURS PER WEEK

Times for Fall 2007:

In addition to the regular times listed for “CLASS SECTIONS MEETING THREE (3) HOURS PER WEEK,” the following times are available for graduate/post-baccalaureate (500- and 600-level) courses:

M or W

T or R

10:00 am - 12:45 pm

1:00 - 3:45 pm

1:00 - 3:45 pm

4:00 - 6:45 pm

4:00 - 6:45 pm

In addition to the regular times listed for “CLASS SECTIONS MEETING THREE (3) HOURS PER WEEK,” the following times are available for paired lower-division (100- and 200-level) courses or paired upper-division (300- and 400-level) courses; pairings should be made so as to encourage students to register to take the two courses together:

M or T or W or R

Course A:  4:00 - 6:45 pm

Course B:  7:00 - 9:45 pm

In addition to the times listed above for “CLASS SECTIONS MEETING THREE (3) HOURS PER WEEK,” three-hour laboratory sections (which are coded as such, i.e., C/S codes 15, 16 and 17) and which meet in dedicated laboratory facilities may be scheduled for any two hour and 45 minute period beginning on an hour or half-hour. In choosing laboratory times, departments are required to consider the impact of these times on students’ ability to build complete class schedules. Note that a lab which meets on a weekday other than Friday (say, Monday) and which selects a time period which is not synchronized with the predominant patterns (say, 9:30 am - 12:15 pm) precludes a student from being able to register for courses offered in three common patterns (in this example, MW 8:30 - 9:45 am, MW 10:00 - 11:15 am, and MW 11:30 am - 12:45 pm). On the other hand, shifting the lab time by a half-hour to 10:00 am - 12:45 pm would only rule out two MW periods.
