First, a word about the curriculum approval process....
Curriculum proposals are prepared by individual faculty members who submit their proposals, in consultation with their Program Director (or Department Chair), to the Dean's Office for preliminary review. The Dean's Office sends proposals to the College Curriculum Committee for review. After the proposal has been reviewed for impact on other disciplines and/or resources, it is forwarded to the Curriculum and Scheduling Office (in Academic Programs). The Curriculum and Scheduling Office sends the proposals to the Academic Senate Office with recommendations as to which senate committees (UCC, BLP and/or GEC) should review each proposal. Reviews of course and program proposals are carried out simultaneously by Senate Committees and the Curriculum and Scheduling Office (and, in the case of proposals referred to BLP, the Associate Vice President for Academic Resources).
If at any time during a proposal's review process there are questions raised at any of the committees, the proposal originator and/or the Program Director will be contacted and consulted.
The Curriculum and Scheduling Office will be recording the action taken at UCC and GEC. For detailed information about proposals that have either been approved/disapproved, faculty are encouraged to contact their College Curriculum representative.
After the proposal has received approval by the appropriate committee, the Curriculum and Scheduling Office obtains signatures by the appropriate committee chair, the Provost, and the President. New programs that have received full campus endorsement are then forwarded to the Chancellor's Office for their review.
CURRICULUM TRACKING (2007-08 Cycle)
The status of all of the curriculum proposals that were forwarded to the Curriculum and Scheduling Office from the instructional colleges is recorded in an Excel spreadsheet. The date on which the spreadsheet was last modified appears as the last line in the spreadsheet (and is also provided when you use the Curriculum Proposal Viewer).
There are two ways to access this data:
- If you want to see the entire process (every course and program proposal), you may download an Excel file containing all 2007-08 curriculum records.
- If there are specific proposals (or groups of proposals) that you are following, you may find it simpler to use the Curriculum Proposal Viewer provided below.
