Lower Division Roadmaps (LDRs)

Dictionary Entry:   LDR
Pronunciation:      'lE-d&r (as in lead•er)
Abbreviation for:   Lower Division Roadmap
Sample Usage:      Follow the LDR!

Your LDR will help you with academic planning for your first two years at Cal State San Marcos.

This website allows you to search through an atlas of thousands of advising schedules to find the one roadmap (your LDR) that will guide you from the basic academic proficiencies that you have when you enter the university (your current “location”) through the first two years of your intended major (your “destination”).

Think of your LDR as your set of "driving directions" for your first two years of study. The courses in your roadmap will satisfy lower-division general education requirements, other university requirements, and the specific requirements of your chosen major, and these courses are sequenced according to any necessary prerequisites. Following your LDR will ensure your being well-prepared for the rigorous upper-division course work required by your major.

We are currently in the process of phasing in LDRs2.0, our redesigned advising tool. Many of the majors most commonly identified by incoming first-year students are already available in LDRs2.0, and most of the other majors can use the original LDRs.

Which majors are in the new LDRs2.0?

The following majors have roadmaps posted for 2011-12:

  • Biological Sciences
  • Business Administration
  • Communication
  • Mass Media
  • Nursing
  • Psychology
  • “Undeclared”

Click on the “Begin LDRs2.0” button to find your LDR if you are Undeclared or if you are following one of these majors.
