Whether you choose a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science, every baccalaureate degree requires completion of a minimum of 120 semester units. Some majors require more than 120 semester units.
At least 40 units need to be in upper division credit, and no more than 70 units may be transferred from a community college.
Every baccalaureate degree must include an approved major. You can learn more about majors available at CSU San Marcos on our Academic Offerings page.
In addition to general education and major-specific requirements, our undergraduate students will graduate prepared for a global environment. To that end, the University also requires:
- Competency in Writing
- Language Other Than English Requirement (LOTER)
- Competency in U.S. History, the Constitution, and American Ideals
- Computer Competency (requirement eliminated effective 3/9/2010)
