Former Student Information

What is a former student?

A former student is an individual who has attended CSUSM in the past, did not complete his/her undergraduate degree and may be interested in the possibility of returning to complete graduation requirements in order to earn a diploma from CSUSM.

Please note:

  • If you have already earned a degree from CSUSM, you are not considered former student.
  • Students are held individually responsible for meeting the requirements outlined in the University Catalog.
  • As long as a student maintains continuous attendance at CSUSM, or a combination of CSU campuses and California Community Colleges, his/her catalog rights are protected, and thus his/her catalog term(s) for the graduation requirements are protected.
  • If a student has not maintained continuous attendance at CSUSM, or a combination of CSU campuses and California Community Colleges, remaining requirements for a degree may have changed in the student's absence.
  • For more information on catalog rights, please refer to the current University Catalog.

In order to be eligible to return to CSUSM, all former students must reapply for admission to the University and must meet upper-division CSU transfer admission requirements.
