HOW TO APPLY
CSUMentorTM
The California State University has developed a comprehensive website that can answer a majority of questions for parents,
students and high school counselors. This website also provides resources for students to track their academic progress,
obtain information about any of the 23 CSU campuses, including Cal State San Marcos. Students may apply using the
CSUMentor website.
You are encouraged to use the CSUMentor system (mentioned above) to apply. If you intend to apply to more than one CSU
campus, it allows you to send your application to multiple campuses and makes the process easy. The web-based CSU
electronic admission application is available to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and allows students complete
access at any time day or night. The electronic admissions application allows students to submit more complete and accurate
information as a result of CSU's electronic admissions internal data checking. CSU's electronic admission application
system provides online and telephone support to applicants who are completing the electronic admission application and need
assistance.
If you have extenuating circumstances that may prevent you from filing an electronic admission application please be
aware that each CSU campus requires an ORIGINAL (not photocopied or color-copied) application. The California State
University publishes an application booklet for each academic year. Students that have a justifiable situation which
prohibits them from filing their application electronically may request an application by calling Cal-State San Marcos'
Admissions Office at (760)750-4820. Students outside of California may request application materials by emailing
apply@csusm.edu, or calling Cal-State San
Marcos' Admissions Office at (760)750-4820. We do not mail application materials within the State of California. Both
color and black/white photocopies are UNACCEPTABLE and will delay the processing of your application. Additionally, use
black or blue ink only. Applications completed in pencil are UNACCEPTABLE and will delay processing of your application.
Application Fee
An application processing fee of $55 in U.S. funds is required for each new application filed.
The fee is nonrefundable and may not be transferred to another term at any campus. The fee is
required for each campus to which you apply.
The application fee may be waived if you are a California resident from a low-income family for whom the
application fee would be an undue financial hardship. The Request to Waive Admission Application Fee form is
available from any CSU campus. If you are applying using CSUMentor, you may apply for this waiver online.
