FRESHMAN FOR A DAY PROGRAM
The Office of Admissions also provides the Freshman For A Day (FFAD) program Wednesday during
the school semester (except holidays and during finals). The program is designed to provide high school students
with the opportunity to see a University campus and participate in a University class. This program is for groups
and is scheduled through your high school.
Cal State San Marcos' Freshman for a Day program lasts approximately 3 1/2 hours (about 8:30AM ~ 12:00Noon) and can accommodate up to a maximum 30 students.
Topics Covered
P.R.I.D.E. (Peer Resources in Discussing Education) Ambassadors will give a presentation for about 30 minutes. Depending on the grade level, the depth of the discussion varies concerning what makes CSUSM different, college prep course requirements, study habits, time management skills, student life, etc. An overview is given about how college classes operate. Students are paired off, given a “class confirmation form” for a specific class at 10:00 a.m., and assigned a class. P.R.I.D.E. Ambassadors brief students on what to expect in a college classroom and appropriate behavior. P.R.I.D.E. Ambassadors will give the students a 45 minute campus tour and then release them to find their class.
Expected Outcomes
The Freshman For A Day Program serves to provide enrichment and motivation to high school students who have not been exposed to college life. It provides students with the opportunity to take an active role in becoming a student in higher education.
