About AITP
| What is AITP? |
|
AITP is the abbreviation for the Association of Information Technology Professionals. We changed our name (January 1, 1997) from DPMA - The Association of Information Systems Professionals - to upgrade our image to meet the changing responsiblities of our profession and studies--Information & Decision Systems. A little AITP History DPMA was an abbreviation for the Data Processing Management Association. To be more representative of the current industry, in early 1996 the national chapter renamed the organization DPMA - The Association of Information Systems Professionals. |
| What is the purpose of AITP? |
The purpose of AITP is to provide a vehicle for its members to further their knowledge of the IT field through informational sessions, workshops, seminars, and networking. If we can have a little fun as well (We can!), that is even better. How will I benefit from AITP? Information - AITP's agenda supplements your education nicely through activities such as Internship Night, Resume Workshop, and Industry Update Night. Student AITP members are encouraged to attend the Parent Chapter Meetings (Professional AITP meetings) and get an inside look at the industry. Involvement - With the current job market so competitive, companies want to see applicants who do more than just attend class and receive grades. They want to see aggressive people who get involved in their careers. AITP provides a way for you to show this participation to companies you are interested in. Networking - AITP provides a way to network with other IS students, professionals in the field, and an often overlooked resource- faculty. The network of people you build can benefit you throughout your career. The best jobs are not advertised but come through a combination of exposure and persistence. AITP cannot provide you with persistence, but we can expose you to local and national professionals.
Check out our benefits page to see what discounts you receive with your membership both locally and nationaly.
Fun - All this and fun too? |
