Directions to the ALCI

BY CAR
From San Diego

  • Go north on Interstate 15
  • Go west on Highway 78
  • Exit Twin Oaks Valley Road and turn left (south)
  • Turn left onto Craven Road
  • Park in Student Parking Lot B or C (parking fee required)
  • ALCI is located in Academic Hall 415

 From Los Angeles

  • Go south on Interstate 5
  • Go east on Highway 78
  • Exit Twin Oaks Valley Road and turn right (south)
  • Turn left onto Craven Road
  • Park in Student Parking Lot B or C (parking fee required)
  • ALCI is located in Academic Hall 415

PARKING INFORMATION
You must have a permit to park your car on campus. You purchase this permit from the kiosk in Parking Lot C or from machines located in the student parking lots. The cost is $3.00 for the first hour or $9.00 all day. For more information, contact parking and transportation services.

AIRPORT INFORMATION
Please make your travel plans early.  San Marcos is about 37 miles (60 km) north of the San Diego International Airport (SAN) and 100 miles (160 km) south of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  We strongly recommend that you arrive at the San Diego International Airport.  Connecting flights from Los Angeles to San Diego are $50 - $150.  If you have to change planes in the U.S., you must allow at least three hours to go through immigration and find your connecting flight.

TRANSPORTATION FROM THE AIRPORT
You must make your own travel arrangements from the airport to San Marcos, ALCI does not provide airport transportation. .  If you arrive in San Diego, and you are living in homestay, then you may reserve airport transportation with the homestay company.  You may also reserve an airport shuttle from Los Angeles International Airport, but this can be very expensive.  Flying from Los Angeles to San Diego may be cheaper than taking a shuttle, please check with the airlines.  You must reserve a shuttle or arrange your transportation before you leave your home country.

BY LIGHT RAIL TRAIN - The Sprinter (local transportation only)
The Sprinter is a new train that stops on the California State University San Marcos campus.   The Sprinter runs from Oceanside to Escondido.  Students may purchase a discounted monthly Sprinter pass at the parking and transportation services office.

BY BUS (local transportation only)
North County Transit District (NCTD) serves California State University San Marcos. The bus stop is located in front of Craven Hall at the flagpoles. Bus #347 stops on campus.
