Housing

International students coming to study at CSU San Marcos have several options to choose from, with both on- and off-campus housing available.

Living on campus promotes greater connections to the university community, and facilitates a positive first year experience. The on-campus living experience provides greater support in transition to U.S. culture and university life.  Living on campus can include participation in learning communities, involvement in student life and recreation, more access to academic resources and opportunities to build life-long friendships. 

On-Campus Housing

CSUSM offers two options for on-campus housing, University Village Apartments (UVA) and the Quad. These are modern, on-campus apartments designed exclusively for students attending California State University San Marcos.

Living on campus promotes greater connections to the university community, and facilitates a positive first year experience. The on-campus living experience also provides greater support for your transition to U.S. culture and university life. Living on campus can provide you with connections to participation in learning communities, involvement in student life and recreation, more access to academic resources, and opportunities to build life-long friendships. 

Please apply early! Campus Housing fills up many months before the semester starts.

Homestay with Local Families

Living with an American family in homestay is one of the best ways to learn about American culture and customs. Many students choose homestay for their first semester at the ALCI. CSUSM does not facilitate homestay; instead, please contact the following homestay agency directly to apply:

Off-Campus Housing

CSU San Marcos is conveniently located to communities throughout northern San Diego County, including San Marcos, Carlsbad, Escondido, Oceanside, and Vista. These areas offer many reasonably priced apartments. CSUSM does not provide placement in off-campus housing, but the following sites may be useful in your search for off-campus housing, apartments, and room rentals.

Summer On-Campus Housing

CSUSM provides on-campus housing for undergraduate students but also offers summer/temporary housing for graduate students on a space available basis.   Details can be found at  Conference/Summer Housing Services.
