It was a strong 2008 debut for the women's and men's cross-country
teams on Saturday, as both squads placed in the top-5 at the UCI
Invitational.

September 5 -- Wild Finish
Spells Heartbreak for Men's Soccer
When Christian Soares tucked away a penalty kick in the 85th minute,
it looked for a brief moment that Cougar men's soccer was going to
pick up an upset win over UCSD. But it was not to be, as UCSD
rallied for the equalizer just a minute and a half later, and the
game winner a few minutes after that. The Tritons won the game
2-1.

ranked team in NCAA Division II, and battled the UCSD Tritons to a scoreless

Entering the 2008 season, there’s a buzz about the Cougar
women’s cross-country team. It’s quiet right now, but come November
it just might be heard nationally. That’s because this team might do
something no other Cal State San Marcos team has done.

Cross-Country Preview: Moving Forward
Injuries derailed last year's men's cross-country team last
season, and now the team's top-four runners are gone. But
Coach Steve Scott has a very talented (and young) squad heading into
this fall, and anything is possible.

Comeback Falls Short; Cougars Lose 2-1
What began as a lackluster effort nearly turned into a spirited
comeback, but Cougar men’s soccer came up short on Tuesday, falling
2-1 to The Master’s College. CSUSM is now 1-2 on the season.

Facing their second tough NCAA opponent in three days, Cougar
women’s soccer played Cal State Stanislaus to a 0-0 tie at home on

In what was an extremely spirited effort, the Cougar men came up
just short of upsetting Cal State Los Angeles, losing 2-1 in

Facing a tough early-season test, the Cougar women got a passing

Goal Lifts Men's Soccer to Win in Opener
In what had the potential to be one of the most frustrating
games in CSUSM soccer history, Mike Nuovo sent Cougar fans home
happy with a goal in the 103rd minute that lifted his team to a 1-0
win in its opener.

Wins in Final Tune-Up Before Season
Playing in their final scrimmage before next week's
season opener, the Cougar women's soccer team bested San Diego Mesa
CC 2-1 on Wednesday.

Competes in Final Fall Scrimmage
In their final tune-up before the start of the regular season,
the Cougar men's soccer team fell 2-1 to California Baptist.
Midfielder Greg Reese accounted for the Cougars' lone goal.
Both the CSUSM men and women kick off their seasons next Tuesday,
August 26th, at home against San Diego Christian.
