MISSION STATEMENT
The California State University San Marcos
Sports Medicine team is committed to providing the highest
quality medical care for intercollegiate student-athletes. We
are committed to enhancing the healthcare and wellness of all
intercollegiate student-athletes through the application of
research-based prevention strategies, evaluation, and
rehabilitation techniques for athletic injuries and illnesses.

Letter to Visiting Teams Medical Forms Returning athletes, new students, and tryout participants each
must fill out different forms. All
athletes (returning, new, and tryouts) must have a doctor complete
and stamp the Pre-Participatory Physical Screening form.

Brian Smith - Head Athletic Trainer
As the University's first full-time athletic
trainer,
Brian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Cougar
family. He has a Master of Science Degree in Kinesiology with an
emphasis in Athletic Training from Indiana University, and is a
certified Emergency Medical Technician, CPR/AED & First Aid
Instructor, and certified Athletic Trainer through the NATA.
Brian comes to the CSUSM from Rancho Buena Vista High School, where
he served as the full-time athletic trainer for all their sports.
Before RBV, Brian was an athletic trainer at the United States
Olympic Training Centers in Chula Vista and Lake Placid, NY. He
also has training experience at Indiana University and Chico State.
