2008 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships
For the second straight year, Cal State San Marcos and the San Diego International Sports Council will host the NAIA Women's Golf Nationals at Lake San Marcos Country Club & Resort.  Round one begins on May 20th, and play will finish on May 23rd.  Click here for more details.

Summer Camp Dates Announced
Cal State San Marcos is pleased to announce its 2008 Cougar Summer Camps!  Five instructional camps will be held in June and July, and sign-up is now open.  If you are interested, click here.

May 6 -- PLAYOFF UPDATE:  Cougar Softball Eliminated from Playoffs
CSUSM softball's first ever trip to the playoffs ended on Tuesday, as the squad was bounced this afternoon after a 7-3 loss to Biola.

May 6 -- PLAYOFF UPDATE:  Cougar Softball Loses 2-0 to #1 Cal Baptist
A couple weeks after pulling a huge upset of #1 Cal Baptist, #22 Cal State San Marcos faced off again with the mighty Lancers – this time in the Regional playoffs. While CSUSM put up a valiant effort, a couple late home runs and an untimely triple play led to a 2-0 defeat.

May 4 -- Track & Field Competes at Steve Scott Invitational
Steve Scott’s Cougar track & field team continued its march to Nationals this weekend, competing at an event named after him – the Steve Scott Invitational at U.C. Irvine (his alma mater).   With Nationals just a couple weeks away, CSUSM’s top athletes were in top form at the large event, which featured teams from UNLV, San Diego State, and Oklahoma, among many others.

April 30 -- Baseball Closes Out Season with Rousing Late Inning Comeback
Cougar baseball finished its season in style on Wednesday, rallying for six runs in the final three innings to down San Diego Christian 10-8.

April 29 -- Softball Headed to Regional Playoffs!
Congratulations to Cougar Softball for earning its first-ever trip to the Region II Playoffs in just the second year of the program!  More details will be announced as they become available.

April 27 -- Track & Field Competes at UCSD Triton Invitational
Cal State San Marcos track & field is just a few weeks away from Nationals, and the squad continued to prepare this weekend, competing at the UCSD Triton Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

April 26 -- Cougar Baseball Splits in Final Home Date of Season
In their final home games of the season, Cougar baseball split with Cal State San Bernardino, winning game one 5-3 before losing game two 13-7.

April 25 -- Baseball Survives Late Rally, Earns Big 5-4 Win at San Bernardino
With just three games left in their season, Cougar baseball is doing all it can bolster its playoff resume.  On Friday, they earned a big win at NCAA opponent Cal State San Bernardino, holding on to take it 5-4.

April 23 -- Softball's Games vs. La Sierra Suspended Indefinitely
Softball's season-ending double-header at La Sierra has been suspended indefinitely.  Any changes in the games status will be announced here.

April 22 - Women's Golf Wins Regionals!
Cougar women's golf came home from Tuesday's Regionals with some nice new hardware.  The team won the Regional Championship, its second straight; Carly Ludwig cruised to the individual title; and Coach Fred Hanover was named Coach of the Year.

April 22 - Softball Takes Two at Hope
Cougar softball solidified its bid for the Region II playoffs on Tuesday, sweeping Hope International in a double-header by scores of 2-0 and 7-2.

April 22 -- Winning Streak Over:  Baseball Loses to Biola
Back on February 12th, Cougar baseball traveled to Biola and got pounded by the Eagles 17-5. When the teams met on Tuesday at Mission Bay High, CSUSM put forth a much better effort – but couldn’t quite pull out the win, falling 5-3.  The loss snaps CSUSM’s nine-game winning streak, and deals a big blow to the squad’s playoff hopes. They are now 19-15 on the year.

April 21 -- Baseball's Winning Streak at 9 after Two Blowouts over La Sierra
Cougar baseball continued to add to its postseason resume on Sunday, extending its winning streak to nine games with a pair of blowout victories over La Sierra.  CSUSM won game one 11-4, then took game two 19-4, improving their record to 19-14 on the season.

April 21 -- Track & Field Competes at Long Beach Invitational
Competing against the likes of USC and Notre Dame, Cougar track & field participated in the Long Beach Invitational on Saturday.

April 20 -- Softball Loses Pair of Close Games to UCSD
One day after pulling an upset of #1 Cal Baptist that sent shockwaves through the NAIA, #20 Cal State San Marcos softball faced another daunting task in NCAA opponent UCSD.  While the Cougars put up quite a fight, they ended up on the wrong end of 1-0 and 8-5 games.

April 19 -- Softball Stunner:  Cougars Upset #1 Cal Baptist!
As the last home date of the season, Saturday marked the first-ever Senior Day for Cal State San Marcos softball. When the games ended, senior Leilani Madrigal and her teammates had a memory that would last a lifetime. 

That’s because the Cougars pulled a shocking upset of #1 Cal Baptist on Saturday.

April 15 -- #21 CSUSM Softball Swept by #2 Point Loma
Cougar softball has been playing great lately, but ran into a buzz-saw on Tuesday at Point Loma.  CSUSM was swept by the #2 Sea Lions, losing 8-0 and 2-0.

Due to class and work schedule conflicts, CSUSM Track & Field will be competing at the Long Beach Invitational this Saturday, as opposed to the APU Invite on Friday and Saturday.

April 12 -- Track & Field Finishes Up Competition at UCLA
Facing off against some of the top collegiate athletes in the country, Cal State San Marcos track & field competed at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational on Friday and Saturday, hosted by UCLA.  Coach Steve Scott’s team did itself proud, posting multiple top-10 finishes:

April 12 -- Softball Scratches Out Split with Concordia
In a pair of games with serious regional playoff implications, #21 Cal State San Marcos split with Concordia University in an evenly-matched double-header on Saturday. The Cougars couldn’t capitalize on numerous opportunities in game one, falling 4-1; but bounced back to win game two 3-2 on a walk-off suicide squeeze.

April 9 -- Softball Earns #21 National Ranking
Cal State San Marcos softball is only in its second season, but the program is already making a mark in the NAIA.  That was proven by today’s national rankings, which listed CSUSM as the #21 team in the nation.

Cal State San Marcos baseball got its school-record 7th straight win on  Tuesday, dismantling Cal State Dominguez-Hills 14-4.

April 8 -- Women's Golf Takes 7th at Matador Invitational
In their final tune-up before Regionals, the Cal State San Marcos women's golf team placed 7th at Tuesday's Matador Invitational.  Adriana Bormann led the way, tying for 21st.

April 8 -- Cougar Athletes Excel in the Classroom
On April 17th, Cal State San Marcos Athletics will hold its second annual Scholar-Athlete Banquet, honoring student-athletes with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the spring or fall of 2007. The Grand Salon at the Clarke Fieldhouse is expected to be packed; not with parents, faculty, and staff - but with the student-athletes themselves.

April 7 -- Showns, Stein Break School Records at Pomona
Cougar track & field had another strong showing on Saturday at Pomona Pitzer, particularly in the 400-meter dash, where sprinters Samantha Showns and Nicholas Stein broke the school records for that event.

April 5 -- Softball Splits Important Double-Header at Biola
In a double-header with major implications to the regional playoff picture, Cougar softball split a pair of games at Biola University on Saturday.  CSUSM won the first 4-2, but lost the second 4-0.

Cougar baseball continued to roll on Saturday, issuing a 16-2 pounding of Occidental College.  Tristan Gale led the way with a pair of homers.
