Men's Soccer Defeats Chapman 1-0
October 26, 2009
October 26, 2009
Cougar men's soccer closed out the regular season with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Chapman on Monday.
CSUSM finishes the regular season at 9-5-1. Chapman falls to 10-3-2.
It was a tough test for Coach Ron Pulvers' Cougars, who will find out if they've qualified for the post-season next Monday.
"It was a well-earned result," commented Pulvers. "Chapman was up for the task and battled very hard."
The lone goal of the game came in the 29th minute, and it was a beauty. Martin Suarez found forward Miguel Jacobo behind the defense, and Jacobo played a ball across the face of the goal to the foot of Bradley Seidenglanz. Seidenglanz took a touch, then knocked the ball past the opposing keeper to give CSUSM a 1-0 lead that the squad would never relinquish.
The San Marcos defense was very stout on Monday, as Chapman didn't get off a shot on goal on Cougar keeper Kevin Ernst, who picked up the shutout.
The A.I.I. Conference Tournament bracket will be available next Monday.
