Cougars Hanging Tough; CSUSM in 9th after 3 Rounds at Women's Golf National Championships

In the third round of the 2007 Women's Golf National Championships, the Cougars were unable to make up ground on the leaders, and remained in the ninth-place spot they held entering the day.

Cougar sophomore Ellyse Siu continued her fantastic tournament, matching yesterday's performance by shooting +4 (76). Entering the final round, she is tied for 6th in the individual competition, with a cumulative total of +16 for the tournament.

Senior Jennell French shot +10 (82) in round 3, dropping her a bit to a tie for 34th with teammate Carly Ludwig. Ludwig's +12 (84) in the third round was her roughest of the tournament thus far. Kate Hansen was also +12 on the day, while Christina Austin shot +22.

CSUSM is 38 shots back of leader Oklahoma City, who has built a 12-shot cushion over the field with a total score of 931.

In the individual competition, freshman Krista Burton from Lindsey Wilson College leads the field, on the strength of a round three 73. With a cumulative score of +5, she is one shot ahead of previous leader Shanna Page.

The tournament concludes Friday. CSUSM golfers will begin teeing off at 1:20 PM.
