It was a tough third round at the Men's Golf Nationals for CSUSM, as the squad dropped from 10th place into a tie for 16th on Thursday.

Matt Determan was the team's big bright spot, shooting a very strong +2 (74). He's steadily improved since a first-round 79, and is now in a tie for 63rd in the field of over 120 golfers.

Scott Conway remains near the top of the leaderboard, but fell back a bit after a +7 (79). He now sits in a tie for 11th with a cumulative score of +4 entering the final round.

Brandon Scolman shot a +6 (78), and now sits in a tie for 53rd. Junior Markus Wendel fell way down the board after a third-round 87, and freshman Kevin Riley shot 85.

In what was a high-scoring day for most of the teams, Oklahoma City held onto its lead - but the cushion is only 8 strokes over Wayland Baptist. CSUSM is tied for 16th with three squads, and a great final round could still get the team into the top-10. In the individual competition, Point Loma Nazarene's Sam Cyr took the lead thanks to a sparkling third-round 67. At -5, he's two shots up on David Tobon of Johnson & Wales.

The tournament will conclude on Friday.
