Competing at Carlton Oaks, the
Cougar men's golf team placed 7th at the Carlton Oaks Invitational
on Tuesday. Scott Conway led the way, tying for 14th.
The three-round tournament, which featured teams from
11 universities, was played on Carlton Oaks' par-72, 7,044-yard
course. Point Loma Nazarene won the event with a team score of
+25 (294), with Drake University finishing 26 shots back in second
place. CSUSM shot +72 (936) for seventh place, three shot
ahead of Army and three shots behind Southern Illinois.
Conway, as usual, was solid, recovering from a first
round 82 to shoot 73-74 and finish with a +13 (229). That tied
him for 14th, 11 shots behind individual champions Michael Mulieri
of Loyola College and Sam Cyr of Point Loma.
Next on the Cougars was Kevin Riley, who shot +18
(234) and tied for 29th. Brandon Gandy and Shezad Lakdawala
shot +22 (238) to tie for 42nd, and Kyle Anderson shot +29 (245) to
place 54th.
The men's golf team will be in
action next on March 2nd at Steel Canyon Golf Course in Jamul, CA.
