Men's Golf Places 15th
at Point Loma |

Cal State San Marcos’ men’s
golf team finished 15th at the Point Loma/Smee
Builder’s Invitational on Tuesday.
Scott Conway was the team’s top finisher, tying for 32nd. The three round tournament was
held on Steele Canyon Golf Courses’ par-72 6,478-yard course.
Sixteen teams competed, with host school Point Loma winning
by three shots over La Verne. Redlands’
Scott Canavan won the individual competition with a three-round
total of -2 (214). CSUSM, which was competing
without #3 golfer Shezad Lakdawala, finished with a total team score
of 963. Conway shot 75-83-77 for a total score of +19 (235) to once
again lead the team. His
first round 75 was the best of any cougar at the tournament. Brandon Gandy was second on the
team, tying for 40th with a score of 237.
Kevin Riley tied for 65th with a 245; Kyle
Anderson tied for 71st with a 253; and Kyle Kelch placed
82nd with a 268. With two tournaments left before
Regionals, Coach Fred Hanover is looking for an improvement in his
team’s play.
