Competing all the way in
Florida, the Cal State San Marcos women’s golf team placed 10th at
the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational. Carly Ludwig was the team’s top
finisher, tying for 28th.
Host school Rollins College won the event for the fourth straight
year. The three-round tournament is hosted at Tuscawilla Country
Club’s par-72 6,089 yard course. Rollins finished with a team total
score of 901, five shots better than second-place Nova Southeastern.
CSUSM finished 10th in the 13-team field, which included multiple
NCAA schools, with a team score of 981.
The individual competition was won by Rollins’ Laura Fourdraine, who
shot +6 (222) over her three rounds.
For CSUSM, Carly Ludwig was consistent over her three rounds,
shooting 79-79-79 to finish at +21 (237). Second on the team was
Linnel de Villa, who shot 83-77-82 to tie for 38th, finishing at +26
(242).
Tying for 45th was Natalie Todd. The Cougar newcomer shot 86-82-80
for a 248 total. Roxane Mejia tied for 54th with an 83-88-83 (254),
and Adriana Bormann placed 59th with an 87-89-86 (262).
"It's an improvement over last
season," commented coach Fred Hanover. "The goal is obviously
to improve our finish at Nationals, and we're continuing to work
toward that."
The women’s golf team will be in action next week at Diablo Grande
Country Club.
