Cal State San Marcos' men's golf
team placed 11th at the Cal Poly Invitational on Friday. Scott
Conway led the squad as usual, tying for 13th.
The three-round event was hosted by Cal Poly on Thursday and
Friday. It took place at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course in
Arroyo Grande. Fourteen colleges competed, and the host school
took home the title with a team score of 871. CSUSM
posted a three-day total of 944, led by Conway. The senior got
off to an awesome start with a first-round -1 (71), then posted
solid rounds of 76 and 76, finishing at +7 (223). The
individual title was won by Cal Poly's Brycen Wagner with a score of
313. Kevin Riley had a
strong tournament, tying for 33rd with a score of 230. He was
consistent, keeping his score under 80 for all three rounds. Other
Cougars competing were Shezad Lakdawala (247), Kyle Anderson (252),
Brandon Gandy (253), and Kyle Kelch (266). The
next competition for men's golf will be April 20th at Regionals,
where Coach Fred Hanover's squad will look to punch their ticket to
May's National Championships. |
