NAIA
Softball Rankings
Cal State San Marcos softball is
only in its second season, but the program is already making a mark
in the NAIA. That was proven by today’s national rankings, which listed
CSUSM as the #21 team in the nation.
It's the first time in program
history that Cougar softball has been ranked nationally.
Led by first-year coach Kelly
Warren, the Cougars are 23-11 on the season.
They are currently ranked fourth in NAIA Region II, the most
competitive region in the country.
The young Cougar team features
just one senior and four juniors – the other 20 players on the
roster are freshman or sophomores. CSUSM’s biggest strength is its
pitching staff, which has a 1.49 ERA so far this season, the 10th
best in the NAIA.
Last
year – the first in program history – Cougar softball went
10-31.
