Cougar baseball continued to add to its postseason resume on Sunday, extending its winning streak to nine games with a pair of blowout victories over La Sierra.  CSUSM won game one 11-4, then took game two 19-4, improving their record to 19-14 on the season.

In game one, the Cougars emptied out the bullpen to secure the victory.  Eight CSUSM pitchers combined to allow just three earned runs on eight hits over all nine innings.  Highlighting that list was Steve Triolo, who struck out the side in order in second and picked up the win.  Mike Raedel, McClinton Heil, and Johnny Holtman all threw scoreless innings, and Lance McCormick finished off the game with two perfect frames.

Meanwhile, the Cougar lineup provided plenty of support.  Jackson Chapelone led the charge, going 3-for-5 with 5 RBI, a home run, and two runs scored.  Austin Coleman was 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI; Tristan Gale was 2-for-2 with a pair of runs and RBI's; and Austin Way and Jason Hinton chipped in multiple hits as well.

Game two proved to be even more lopsided, as CSUSM scored 8 in the fourth en route to the 19-4 rout.  Reliever Grant Harrell was solid in his first start of the season, beginning his outing with three perfect innings.  He finished  with a line of four innings pitched, four runs allowed, no walks, three strikeouts, and a win.

Catcher Mike Pena led the offense with four hits and four runs scored.  Terry Moritz was 3-for-3 with a trio of RBI's.  Ricardo Moran, Way, and Gale all had multiple hits, and Chapelone drove a pinch-hit homer.  Even the pitchers got into the act at the plate, with Holtman coming in to pinch hit in the seventh and knocking an RBI triple.

Auggie Richardson pitched two perfect innings, and David Julio threw a scoreless ninth to close out the Cougars' 19th victory of the season.

CSUSM will play a huge game on Tuesday when they host Biola at Mission Bay High.
