Cal State San Marcos Tops
Leaderboard after Day One of NAIA Women’s Golf National
Championships
After the first of four rounds,
Cal State San Marcos finds itself leading the pack at the NAIA
Women’s Golf National Championships.
The event, co-hosted by CSUSM and the San Diego International
Sports Council, is being played at Lake San Marcos Country Club.
As a team, the 11th-ranked
Cougars shot +23 (311) on their home course.
They sit 5 shots ahead of Lindsey Wilson, and seven shots
clear of three-time defending champion Oklahoma City.
Natalie Todd led the way with a
brilliant round of +3 (75). The
sophomore from Seattle, Washington is tied for third after one
round.
Not far behind are Adriana
Bormann and Carly Ludwig, who each turned in rounds of +6 (78).
They share 11th place.
Ellyse Siu sits just a couple
shots back, tied for 25th at +8 (80).
Kate Hansen rounds out the team at +18 (90), in 94th
place.
CSUSM
will hit the course tomorrow at noon looking to protect the lead.
Last year the Cougars finished 9th at the National
Championships, which also took place at Lake San Marcos.
