Cal State San Marcos Tops Leaderboard after Day One of NAIA Women’s Golf National Championships

After the first of four rounds, Cal State San Marcos finds itself leading the pack at the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championships.  The event, co-hosted by CSUSM and the San Diego International Sports Council, is being played at Lake San Marcos Country Club.

As a team, the 11th-ranked Cougars shot +23 (311) on their home course.  They sit 5 shots ahead of Lindsey Wilson, and seven shots clear of three-time defending champion Oklahoma City.

Natalie Todd led the way with a brilliant round of +3 (75).  The sophomore from Seattle, Washington is tied for third after one round.

Not far behind are Adriana Bormann and Carly Ludwig, who each turned in rounds of +6 (78).  They share 11th place.

Ellyse Siu sits just a couple shots back, tied for 25th at +8 (80).  Kate Hansen rounds out the team at +18 (90), in 94th place.

CSUSM will hit the course tomorrow at noon looking to protect the lead.  Last year the Cougars finished 9th at the National Championships, which also took place at Lake San Marcos.
