One Results
Running in wet conditions at the
NAIA Track & Field National Championships, Sergio Gonzalez and
Morgan Sjogren became Cal State San Marcos’ first All-Americans of
this season.
The pair of 10K runners lived up
to their billing, finishing third and fourth respectively in their
event on the first day of Nationals.
Gonzalez ran 30:43 and cruised
to a third-place finish, easily qualifying him for All-American
status. The men’s
race was one by Azusa Pacific’s two-time defending champ Aron Rono,
who finished in 29:56.
On the women’s side, Sjogren
was equally impressive, placing fourth with a time of 36:00.
The event was won by Indiana Tech’s Alissa McKaig.
The
National Championships will run through Friday and Saturday, with
more than 20 other Cougars getting their shot at being named an
All-American.
