We're coming to you live from DAY THREE of the 2008 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships!  I'm running out of creative ways to photograph the front of Lake San Marcos Country Club.

Hey, quick note for all you aspiring comedians out there.  When you spend a month writing golf jokes for a four-day tournament, it's probably a bad idea to use them all on the first day.  Just a thought.

Coach Fred making his first appearance of the afternoon.  He tells me I have to "step it up" with the commentary.  You know what, Fred?  I'm just happy I haven't required medical assistance yet while walking the course.

No, this is not a plea to Callaway to send me clubs (though that would be fantastic) - this is to show that the wind was really kicking today.

An abandoned golf cart - have to resist the urge to take it.  Way too much "Grand Theft Auto" in my life lately.

Alright, CSUSM roll call!  That's Kate Hansen teeing off.  Through two rounds she's at +31.

There's Ellyse Siu, at +26 through two rounds.

On the right in the blue sweater is CSUSM Head Athletic Trainer Brian Smith.  He's rocking the sunglasses and ear-piece, and thus will be known as "Agent Brian" from now on.

Adriana Bormann is at +17 through two rounds.  That's a nice tee shot.

He's cheering on the inside.

Natalie Todd with her opening tee shot.  She's at +14 after day two.

And Carly Ludwig, who shot an outstanding 75 yesterday and sits at +9 for the tournament.  We'll be following her for the first few holes, then catch up with the rest of the team.

Carly's approach on the par four 1st.

Safely onto the green.  The birdie putt would miss, but she'd tap in for par.

Carly's second on the par-four 2nd.

Chipping onto the green...

Well, not quite.  Take two..

Clearly, an interesting green to read.

Teeing off on the par-3 third.

A nice pitch onto the green leads to par.  She would shoot +5 on the front-9 though.  Time to catch up with the rest of the team.

There's Natalie, going deep into the forest to punch this one out.

She'd get out very nicely, and stick her pitch shot to within a few feet to save par.

Now teeing off on the fifth.  I love the pink driver.

She'd get unlucky with her tee shot, as it'd catch a bunker just off the fairway.  But Natalie nailed this shot onto the green, and would two-putt for par.  Natalie shot +5 on the front-9.

Now to Adriana, teeing off..

Chipping...

Putting....

Pretending to be a lightning rod...

And teeing off again!  Adriana's at +8 on the day through 9 holes.

Uh oh...just noticed Kate Hansen's group on the ninth green already.  They're nearly two full holes ahead of Ellyse's group.  Let's see if I can sprint across this fairway and get a shot of Kate putting before she makes the turn...

Predictably, I can't.

Well, that's the best I could do.  And wouldn't you know it, Kate shot a brilliant -1 (34) on the front 9!  Figures.

Ellyse, putting on 8.  She'd sink this medium-length putt for par.

Ellyse, teeing off on the 9th.

I'm still breathing hard from running across the fairway earlier.  Fred drives by to mock me.  I tell him I feel like John Daly again.

Ellyse's approach on the 9th.

She would two-putt for par and finish with a +5 on the front-9.

Back to the clubhouse.  Hey, an Amstel Light booth!  Now I REALLY feel like John Daly.  Anyway, we'll be back on the course tomorrow for the final day of action.
