Rough, muddy conditions got to the #4-ranked CSUSM men's cross-country team at Saturday's NAIA National Championships, as the squad settled for 17th place.

Saturday proved to be a phenomenal end to the regular season for Coach Steve Scott's cross-country teams, as the Cougar men won the Biola Invitational and the women finished second in a field that featured the top four teams in the nation.

October 3 -- Williams Wins at Balboa Boogie, Beressa Finishes 3rd
Dallon Williams continued her outstanding season for Cougar cross-country, finishing first amongst the women at the Balboa Boogie. Fellow Cougar Muluken Beressa finished 3rd amongst the men.
September 21 -- Schedule Update
Cougar Cross-Country will run in October 3rd's "Balboa Boogie" at Morley Field. The team will not be participating in the UCSD Invitational the following weekend.September 19 -- Women's Cross-Country Finishes 7th, Men 8th at UC Riverside
Competing in a field that included NCAA schools like BYU and San Jose State, Cougar cross-country posted two very competitive finishes, with the women taking 7th in the 5K and the men placing 8th in the 8K.

Muluken Baressa won the 8K, and Dallon Williams won the 5K as Cougar cross-country posted a huge season-opening effort at UC Irvine.

Cougar men's cross-country is ranked #6 in the nation in Wednesday's first NAIA poll of the Fall season. The Cougars finished last year ranked #10, and placed 12th at the 2008 Nationals.

Coach Steve Scott’s Cal State San Marcos Women’s Cross-Country Team recorded the best finish at Nationals in the program’s 10-year history on Saturday, taking third place. The men’s team posted a strong finish as well, taking twelfth.
