Tyler Hurst Leads Men's Golf to 12th Place Finish at Bill Cullum Inv.

Competing in a field with 16 NCAA schools, Cal State San Marcos men's golf finished a very impressive 12th at the Bill Cullum Invitational on Wednesday.  Tyler Hurst led the way, finishing tied for 15th.

In the second round of the Bill Cullum Invitational on Monday, Cougar men's golf recorded its best team score in three years, a 291.  The team is tied for 9th place through two of the tournament's three scheduled rounds.

Men's Golf Finishes 6th at Firestone Grill Inv., Hurst Ties for 8th

It was a strong debut this week for Cougar men's golf, as the squad placed 6th in a tough field at the Firestone Grill Invitational.  The three-round tournament was hosted by Cal Poly at Monarch Dunes Golf Course in Nipomo, CA.

Coach Fred Hanover's Cougar men's golf team got off to a good start to its season on Monday at the Firestone Grill Invitational, and is in sixth place at the Firestone Grill Invitational after shooting a team score of 309.

April 28 -- British Columbia Wins A.I.I. Men’s Golf Championship; CSUSM Finishes 4th

British Columbia has won the first-ever Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Men's Golf Championship, finishing ten shots ahead of the University of Victoria to take home the title.

March 27 -- Men's Golf Finishes 12th at Sacramento State Invitational

Cougar men's golf took 12th place in a field of NCAA schools at the Sacramento State Invitational on Friday, as the squad continues its season hopefully towards a birth at Nationals.

March 26 -- Men's Golf in 12th After Round One of Cal Poly Intercollegiate

Competing at Cypress Ridge Country Club, Cougar men's golf is in 12th place after 36 holes in the Cal Poly Intercollegiate.  Shezad Lakdawala led the way on Thursday, and is currently tied for 36th after shooting 156 (81-75).  Chris Alderete is second on the team after shooting 78-84.

March 3 -- Men's Golf Takes 12th at Point Loma Invitational After Strong Final Round

After shooting rounds of 321 and 325 yesterday, Cougar men's golf finished the Point Loma/Smee Builders Invitational strong today, shooting 309.  The Cougars' three-day total of 955 was good for 12th place at the event.

March 3 -- Men's Golf Tied for 13th After Day One at Point Loma/Smee Builders Invitational

After two rounds, Cal State San Marcos men's golf sits tied for 13th at the Point Loma/Smee Builders Invitational.  All five Cougar golfers are within five shots of each other, with Brandon Gandy leading the way after shooting 81-79 on the par-72, 6,834-yard course.  Second is Robert Nicanor, who shot 80-84.  Next was Shezad Lakdawala, who rebounded from a first-round 87 to shoot a sparkling 77 in the second round.  Rounding out the squad are DJ Harries and Curtis Gruidl, who both shot 80-85.


February 18 -- Men's Golf Ties for 8th at Carlton Oaks Invitational

Cougar Men's Golf continued to battle through rough weather this week, tying for 8th at the Carlton Oaks Invitational.

February 16 -- Men's Golf in Ninth After One Round at Carlton Oaks Invitational

The field at the Carlton Oaks Invitational was able to play around the weather for one round Monday, and Cal State San Marcos sits in ninth place.  Shezad Lakdawala shot a very strong 75, and Curtis Gruidl was close behind with a solid 77.  They'll look to continue that good play into tomorrow's final round.

February 10 -- Holy Names wins CSU San Marcos Invitational; Cougars tie for 5th

Holy Names University held off a hard-charging CSU San Bernardino team to take home the title Tuesday at the CSU San Marcos Invitational, posting a team total of 592, one shot better than CSUSB's 593.  Host school Cal State San Marcos finished tied for fifth, and San Diego State's Ryan Citarella won the individual title, shooting 71-72 (143).

February 9 -- Men's Golf Round One Results

Holy Names University has a solid lead after the first round of the CSU San Marcos Invitational, which was able to take place despite some wild weather.  The event, hosted by CSUSM, features teams from 14 colleges, as well as golfers from San Diego State and University of San Diego.  The Cougars are in sixth place after day one, with D.J. Harries leading the way.  The sophomore is tied for 21st after shooting a 78 despite the conditions. 

The tournament's final round will be played tomorrow.

January 26 -- DJ Harries Takes Second Place in Cougar Debut; Team Finishes Fourth

Competing at picturesque La Jolla Country Club against a five-team field of San Diego schools, Cougar men's golf placed fourth.  DJ Harries led the way, placing second in his debut as a member of Cal State San Marcos golf.

October 28 -- Lakdawala Leads Cougar Men's Golf to Strong Showing at Bill Cullum Invitational
Playing their final tournament of the fall, Cal State San Marcos men's golf looked the best they have thus far, finishing 11th at the Bill Cullum Invitational.  Shezad Lakdawala led the way, tying for 45th.

Men's golf finished in 6th place in its first tournament of the fall, finishing up its third round of competition at the Coast BMW College Challenge on Tuesday.
