CSUSM Wins 2009 NAIA Women's Cross-Country National Championship!

The second-ranked Cougars pulled off the shocking upset Saturday morning on a rough and muddy course at Fort Vancouver in Washington. CSUSM topped the field of the NAIA's 32 best teams, including #1-ranked and heavily favored defending champion Azusa Pacific.

This fall has been one of the most successful seasons in the history of Cal State San Marcos Athletics, and it will peak this Saturday as three Cougar teams compete at NAIA National Championship events.

CSU San Marcos swept the top three individual spots, then held off hard-charging Simon Fraser to win the Association of Independent Cross-Country Conference Championship on Saturday.

Saturday proved to be a phenomenal end to the regular season for Coach Steve Scott's cross-country teams, as the Cougar men won the Biola Invitational and the women finished second in a field that featured the top four teams in the nation.

October 3 -- Williams Wins at Balboa Boogie, Beressa Finishes 3rd
Dallon Williams continued her outstanding season for Cougar cross-country, finishing first amongst the women at the Balboa Boogie. Fellow Cougar Muluken Beressa finished 3rd amongst the men.

September 21 -- Schedule Update
Cougar Cross-Country will run in October 3rd's "Balboa Boogie" at Morley Field. The team will not be participating in the UCSD Invitational the following weekend.
September 19 -- Women's Cross-Country Finishes 7th, Men 8th at UC Riverside
Competing in a field that included NCAA schools like BYU and San Jose State, Cougar cross-country posted two very competitive finishes, with the women taking 7th in the 5K and the men placing 8th in the 8K.

Cal State San Marcos women's cross-country is ranked #1 in NAIA, according to the Wednesday's first national poll of the season.

The first NAIA Cross-Country ranking of the Fall has been released, and both the CSUSM men's and women's teams find themselves at #6. The Cougar men finished 12th at Nationals, while the women took 3rd.

Coach Steve Scott’s Cal State San Marcos Women’s Cross-Country Team recorded the best finish at Nationals in the program’s 10-year history on Saturday, taking third place. The men’s team posted a strong finish as well, taking twelfth.
