May 11 -- CSUSM Track & Field Qualifier List

Cal State San Marcos track & field is set to compete in the National Championships, which will take place on May 21-23 at Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Illinois.  Below is the list of Cougar athletes who have qualified and the events they will be competing in.

May 10 -- Cougar Track & Field Finishes Up Regular Season Competition at Occidental

Track & Field competed in its final meet of the season on Saturday, taking part in the huge Occidental Invitational.  The squad will be headed to Nationals on May 21st.

April 25 -- Track & Field Competes at UCSD

Cougar track & field entered the home stretch of its season on Saturday, competing at the UCSD Triton Invitational.  Only UC Irvine and Occidental remain on the schedule before Nationals.

April 20 -- Updated List of Track & Field Nationals Qualifiers

Coach Steve Scott's Track & Field team team competed at a couple meets over the weekend, and as usual the Cougar athletes turned in numerous memorable performances.

April 11 - Cougar Track & Field Competes at UCLA

Coach Steve Scott’s track & field team competed at the UCLA Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational this weekend, and CSUSM posted a great showing against some of the best collegiate athletes in the nation.

Photo Album Competing with nearly 500 athletes at the Point Loma/Naval Academy Meet, both Cougar men's and women's track & field took 11th place.  Top-10 finishers included Matt Leetch in the 1500-meter run (8th; 4:05), Chris Artley in the shot put (8th; 12.68 meters), and Austin Sylvia in the 200-meter dash (9th; 22.95). 

Coach Steve Scott's Track & Field team is rolling along this season, having qualified numerous athletes for Nationals already.

March 14 -- Cougar Track & Field Competes at Aztec Invitational Kevin Ott Wright finishing first in the 400-meter hurdles highlighted CSUSM track & field's final day at the Aztec Invitational. Many Cougar athletes competed at the huge meet, and an updated list of Nationals qualifiers will be posted in the upcoming week. Cougar track & field competed at day one of the Aztec Invitational on Friday.  Highlights included Scott Jeffers finishing third in the javelin throw with a distance of 48.69 meters and Yuto Someya taking fifth in the men's 400-meter hurdles open. 

March 7 -- Villarreal, Edwards, McFadden Finish First at San Diego City Invitational

Cougar track & field continued its season on Saturday, participating in the San Diego City Invitational, hosted by UCSD.  The event also featured competitors from San Diego State and Point Loma.

February 1 -- Cougar Track Team Members Compete at Surf City Half Marathon

Members of the Cal State San Marcos Track Team ran at today's hugely popular Surf City Half Marathon in Huntington Beach, and made an impact on the leaderboard.  Senior Leo Elorza finished 6th overall in the enormous field with a time of 1:10:32.  Cougar All-American Morgan Sjogren finished 3rd amongst women (26th overall), running 1:19:37.  Teammate Sin Carrano finished 10th among women (81st overall) with a time of 1:26:57.   

Former CSUSM All-American and current assistant track coach Sergio Gonzalez took 3rd overall with a time of 107:37.

May 24 -- Men and Women Both Finish 8th at 2008 NAIA Track & Field National Championships
Coach Steve Scott's track & field team earned a record 12 All-Americans and 2 National Champions at this year's National Championships.  As a team, both the Cougar men and women finished 8th in the country.
