Of those qualifying athletes, many have a chance
to place - or even win - their respective events. Dallon
Williams is currently ranked #1 in the NAIA in the steeplechase, and
Juan Mejia is currently ranked #1 in the marathon. Sergio
Gonzalez is ranked 2nd in the 10k; Ashleigh Davis is ranked 3rd in
the 100-meter hurdles; Whitney Patton is 4th in the Steeplechase;
Samantha Showns is 5th in the 400-meter; Morgan Sjogren is 4th in
both the 5k and 10k; David Freund is 8th in the pole vault; and
Kevin Ott Wright and Cory Dart are 7th and 8th in the 400-meter
hurdles, respectively.
Last year's All-Americans looking to repeat
include Davis, Dart, Mejia, and Patton. Lucia Asbury, Namadjlah
McIntosh, and Showns are all looking to repeat as part of the
4x400-meter relay team.
The NAIA Track & Field National Championships will
take place from Thursday, May 22nd to Saturday, May 24th.
