Dr. Fritz Kreisler received his B.S. and Ph.D. in Psychology from UC Davis after transferring from Napa Community College as a re-entry student. He has been working in university counseling centers for 18 years, the first seven of which were at Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania (where he was also Associate Dean of Students). Dr. Kreisler has been at Cal State San Marcos since 1992. Professional interests include anxiety and stress management and recovery from trauma. Dr. Tamara Savage graduated with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1993. She worked primarily in the Washington State area before moving to San Diego. Dr. Savages' s varied experience includes working at the University of Tennessee's Student Counseling Center, Jewish Family Services, and Western State Hospital managing the Dual Diagnosis unit for two years. Her interests include young adult populations, women's issues, sports psychology, anxiety and stress management, couple's issues, and supervision and training of graduate psychology students. She is an avid animal lover. Dr. Kara Kornher, Psychologist and Learning Disabilities (LD) Specialist with Disabled Student Services, serves as CAPS' primary testing supervisor in addition to providing clinical supervision for interns. Dr. Kornher received her B.A. in Psychology from the College of William and Mary in Virginia, and her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the School of Professional Psychology at Wright State University in Ohio. She moved to California to complete a predoctoral internship at UCSD's Psychological & Counseling Services. Her diverse professional experience prior to coming to Cal State San Marcos in 1996 includes working in a correctional facility, university counseling center, community mental health clinic, crisis center, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, and Scripps Hospital. Areas of professional interest in addition to psychological assessment include women's issues and humanistic psychology. Dr. Toni Ann Cafaro, received her B.A. in psychology from California State University, Fullerton and her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. Her professional experience includes working at the Psychological Services center of CSPP, Right Management Consultants, Cal State University San Marcos and Catholic Charities. She has also worked in the drama therapy program at Stop Gap in Santa Ana. Areas of professional interest include: stress management, anxiety, depression, physiological psychology, organizational psychology, sports psychology and creativity. We are also fortunate to have three experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Psychology doctoral interns from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University: Chrsitina Zampitella-Freese, received her B.A. in psychology from the University of Delaware and two Master's degrees, on in counseling psychology and another in clinical psychology, from Immaculata University and CSPP, respectively. As a doctoral candidate at CSPP with an integrative emphasis, she utilizes a variety of approaches in therapy including meditation/imagery, nature therapy, spirituality, combined with traditional psychotheraphy techniques. She comes to CAPS with experience in group, individual, and couples counseling, psychological evaluation, career counseling, crisis intervention and has worked extensively with individuals with disabilities. Her professional interests includes grief and loss counseling, individual and marriage therapy, depression, anxiety, and multicultural-counseling. Karyn Harmon, received her B.A. in Psychology from CSUSM and her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from CSPP. Her clinical experiences include both short and long-term therapy in an outpatient clinic working with children, families, and adults struggling with a range of issues from family dynamics and adjustments issues to those with more severe psychiatric illnesses such as Major Depression and Anxiety Disorders. Through her work in San Diego Crisis Houses, Karyn has gained experience working with chronically mental ill patients including the assessment and intervention of suicidality. Therapeutically, Karyn utilizes a wide range of approaches in helping people to reach their clinical goals. Among these approaches are interpersonal and cognitive behavior therapies with special attention given to the individual needs of the client. Karyn's professional areas of interest include children and adults of the foster care system, relationships and identity formation, including people's relationships to themselves, to others, and the ways in which these relationships interact. Stephanie Mason, received her M.A. in Psychology and is pursuing her doctorate in clinical psychology at CSPP - San Diego. Stephanie's clinical experience includes individual, couples, and family psychotherapy. She completed practicum experience at Palomar Family Counseling, and Orange Police Department's Crisis Intervention Unit. Stephanie's professional areas of interest include anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships and human sexuality.
