SCRIPPS HEALTHCARE
Why Volunteer?
The most rewarding reason to volunteer cannot be
measured. As a volunteer, you gain valuable
experience, learn new skills, make friends and
meet others who share the same values and
interests.
Perhaps most rewarding of all is the patient’s
appreciation. A warm smile or encouraging word
can mean as much to a patient as the services
you provide. Scripps offers training in a
variety of areas in a professional, friendly
environment, to make you feel comfortable and
confident. We are committed to the success of
our volunteers. Additionally, volunteers receive
the following benefits:
-
Annual volunteer appreciation celebration
-
Free parking
-
Insurance--liability and workers' compensation
-
Invitations to special events
-
Wellness program, including immunizations
WHO CAN VOLUNTEER:
Volunteers must be active men and women age 15
and older who are willing to make a commitment
to volunteering at least three to four hours a
week. Scripps volunteers include students,
homemakers, part-time workers, retired persons
and seniors. Volunteers may have unique
opportunities to work in the emergency
department, intensive care unit, or surgery.
After an initial interview and health screening,
volunteers are assigned to an area of their
choice and attend a site orientation. We offer
training programs and continuing education to
help volunteers remain efficient and effective.
Some sites ask volunteers to join the hospital
auxiliary. Auxiliary members donate many hours
of services and have contributed to the funding
of new medical equipment, scholarships and
financial support for indigent patients. We Need
You!
