Advocacy and Strategic Planning:
Center ARTES' Executive Director, Dr. Merryl Goldberg, works with Superintendents and Principals to design innovative curricular and logistic approaches to teaching in and through the arts and to smoothly integrate these approaches into already existing programs. Start from the ground up with a customized plan for your district that will improve both your teachers' facility in teaching with the arts and your students' performance across the curriculum. Past successes include designing and implementing 5 year plans with both Del Mar and Vista School Districts.
Research and evaluation are also essential elements of our work. For example, we recently completed work under a three year Spencer Foundation and John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation grant to research and evaluate SUAVE as a national model. We also regularly employ an independent researcher to document and record the effectiveness of selected programming. Though artists and arts educators already know the value and power of the arts in education, we are determined to continue building an incontrovertible, factual argument for the practical, tangible benefits of regular exposure to the arts for our children. In addition, our research directly serves to help us continue to refine and improve our own planning and programs.
