Please take a moment to recognize our colleague, Ash Fogle. We encourage you to reach out to Ash throughout the month to recognize her contribution to the college and University via email, telephone or in person.
Years at CSUSM? I have been here off and on in a variety of positions across campus for 3.5 years.
What is your short term goal? Develop creatively, both in ways that apply to my work in the Dean’s Office and in my teaching.
What is your long term goal? Peacefulness. Worry less, enjoy more.
What is your greatest accomplishment (personal or professional)? Finishing my Ph.D. and inventing creative ways to put it to use beyond just teaching.
What is favorite movie? Tough to name just one. Favorite film genre is science fiction/fantasy.
What is your favorite food? Anything spicy (and vegetarian). The spicier, the better!
What is your favorite book? These days I mostly only have time to read non-fiction related to my classes. (And student papers. Lots of student papers.)
What are your hobbies? Cooking, hiking, crafty stuff.
Tell us about your family: I live in a house full of beautiful, brilliant men! Fabulous husband and two sons, age 5 and 8.5.
What is your favorite thing about working at CSUSM? The students! (I’m also quite fond of my awesome colleagues, but CSUSM students are amazing and remind me every day why we are all here!)
What would you like to do when you retire? Travel and spend more time outdoors.
Who is the most famous person you ever met? I got the chance to meet (environmental and global justice activist) Vandana Shiva when I invited her to give a talk at my previous university. Unfortunately, the taxi I sent to pick her up at the airport had defective brakes and they almost crashed (twice!) on the trip to campus, so I daresay it was a memorable experience for her, too—though not in the same way!
