Description:
From the class search page in PeopleSoft you can view classes being offered for a specific term and the course catalog.
- Class schedule and catalog data from 1990 forward is available to view
Navigation:
Log on to your MyCSUSM and Navigating to your Faculty Center
- Select the Faculty Self Service option from the Portal Menu
- Click the "class search" tab from the Faculty Center
- Select the term you want search
- Click the "GO" button.
- Course Subject – Select the subject from the drop down box
- Course Number – If you are searching for a specific course number (i.e. 101, 395, etc.) enter it in the box. If you are searching for all classes within a discipline, leave the course number field empty.
- Course Career – You can lessen the search results of a discipline search by selecting Undergraduate or Pastbaccalaurate from the drop down menu.
- Show Open Classes Only – have this checked on to show only open classes and check it off to show all classes regardless of status.
- Click the "Search" button.
- The course number and title will appear above all the sections of the class. Within the box, you will see the section number and 5-digit class number.
- A green dot on the right of the box indicates the class still has seats available. A blue box indicates the class is full and no seats are available.
Note: To learn more about a class, click on the section link. It will give you more details on the class such as: Course Attribute – this will indicate if the class is GE and in which area; Class capacity; Available seats, and the course description. - The "Return To Results"button will return you to the results page where you can start a new search or change the term you are searching.
To search by Course Attribute Value (example: BB, CC, DD):
- Select the Faculty Self Service option from the Portal Menu
- Click the "class search" tab from the Faculty Center
- Select Cal State San Marcos as the "Institution" and select the "Term" you are searching.
- Click the "GO" button.
Caution: Terminology: Courses exist at the catalog level; Classes exist at the Schedule of Classes level.
- Click the "GO" button.
- On the Class Search Criteria page:
- Complete the fields for:
- Course Subject – Select the subject from the drop down box
- Course Number – If you are searching for a specific course number (i.e. 101, 395, etc.) enter it in the box. If you are searching for all classes within a discipline, leave the course number field empty.
- Course Career – You can lessen the search results of a discipline search by selecting Undergraduate or Pastbaccalaurate from the drop down menu.
- And click the "Additional Search Criteria" link.
- In the "Course Attribute" field, type the code:
GERQ - Click the magnifying glass icon, next to the "Course Attribute Value" field, to display all possible values.
- From the "Look Up Course Attribute Value" table, click the link for the value you want to search (example: BB, CC, DD).
- You will be returned to the Class Search Criteria page and the code you clicked will show in the "Course Attribute Value" field.
- Click the "Search" button.
Note: When your search results are displayed, if you click on the "Section" number link for a class, you will see the Course Attribute in the "ENROLLMENT INFORMATION" section of the class details.
