CoAS Budget

The College of Arts and Sciences needs to identify approximately $1.6 million dollars in permanent reductions and approximately $800,000 in fiscal reductions for the 2010-11 academic year. These reductions must be identified and recommended to the Dean by October 28, 2009 by an Ad Hoc CoAS Budget Committee (see below for structure).

Faculty/Staff Input

We invite you to submit suggestions for 2010-11 budget reductions. Your input is confidential and only viewed by the Dean and Associate Deans of the College of Arts and Sciences. Please keep in mind our Guiding Principles as you submit your input.

Guiding Principles

  1. Instruction is the heart of the University
  2. Preserve, to the greatest extent possible, the AA Strategic Plan
  3. Preserve, to the greatest extent possible, the CoAS Strategic Plan
  4. Respect and support the varied roles of faculty: teching/profesional performance, research/creative activity, and service.
  5. Efficiently use the personnel, budgetary and physical resources in CoAS.
  6. Preserve CoAS' ability to respond when better fiscal times are upon us.
  7. Preserve the academic diversity of the College curriculum and program
  8. Preserve respect, sensitivity and inclusion as we talk about this difficult situation.
