Accounting is considered to be the “language of business.” The complexities of the business world today make those who speak this language, thoroughly, more valuable than ever. Believing that thorough knowledge of accounting principles and rules as well as critical-thinking and problem-solving skills are all essential for the proper education of accounting students today, the Accounting faculty in the College of Business Administration are committed to providing students in the program with a rigorous education. The program is enhanced by relatively small class sizes, which facilitate interaction between dedicated teachers and students in and out of the classroom.  

Graduates find that, as a result of its rigor and its breadth, our program is relevant preparation for professional certifications and exciting careers. Many of our alumni have been awarded one (or more) of the following prestigious certifications:
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Certified Management Accountant
  • Certified Internal Auditor
In sum, the Accounting faculty believe that highly motivated students (i.e., students who are committed to learning and are willing and able to devote the time, effort, and thought toward obtaining a truly higher education) will find the Accounting program at CSUSM to be quite rewarding.
