CoBA Community Highlights

Brian Pierce

Getting a chance to touch base with one of CSUSM's many students, CoBA was able to interview Navy veteran Brian Pierce. Brian is a part of the Senior Experience program which groups senior students to work on projects for local businesses. In return, students are tasked with real world projects that test their ability to work as a team and put their knowledge to the test. Prior to enrolling at CSUSM, Brian was a nuclear reactor operator in charge of managing many different responsibilities at once. Education for the position took two years of rigorous studying to complete, teamwork and self-discipline being an important aspect of his day to day requirements. Now, after being shaped by the Navy both intellectually and in character, Brian is furthering his education by pursuing a degree in project management. With his degree he plans on following the path of entrepreneurship, launching his own business based on the demand of fields in the ever changing world of business. When asked why he decided to continue his education at CSUSM, he said it was an easy decision because of the large amount of support that is given by the veteran center. CoBA looks forward to watching him succeed in accomplishing his goals.
