The Finder is a window that shows all the different files, folders, and drives currently located on the Mac. The window is divided into two panels. The left panel shows the different disks (hard drives, CDs, etc.) on the computer, and below the disks are the more frequented locations of files.
- The desktop can be used to save files, but the better practice would be to save all your files to the documents folder or a folder located on another disk (i.e. external hard drive).
- Movies, Music, and Pictures are folders that may be used to store movies, music, and pictures.
- Applications is a folder that contains all the applications (programs) the Mac has loaded.
This is where you can choose the program you want to open.
