Social Justice and Equity Project Request for Proposals

CSUSM Faculty and Staff Grants 2009 - 2010

The Social Justice and Equity Project announces grant opportunities for the 2009-10 academic year of up to $500.  The grants will support faculty initiatives which achieve the university wide strategic priority of educational equity.   Successful proposals will demonstrate how proposed activities will advance social justice, educational equity and/or enhance diversity on campus.

Proposals that identify ways to enhance the equity and diversity of faculty, staff and students, develop classroom and campus activities or engage in scholarship to foster a supportive multicultural environment on campus are especially welcome.  Grant proposals focused on student initiatives should be inclusive of all students, and demonstrate how the proposal benefits the CSUSM community as a whole.  We also encourage proposals that include faculty-student or faculty-staff collaborations.

All tenure-track, non-tenure-track faculty, and staff are eligible to apply.  Awardees must be employed on a full time basis at CSUSM during 2009 - 2010 academic year.

Proposals should be no more than two double-spaced pages with a title page and contain the following:

   a.  Project narrative describing objectives and activities
   b.  Clear statement of expected outcome(s)
   c.   Activities and timeline
   d.  Evaluation component
   e.  Budget

1. If applicable, grant awardees are encouraged to present their project at the Social Justice and Equity Symposium (spring 2010), or in a Social Justice and Equity Project-sponsored workshop during the 2009-2010 academic year.

2. Deadline for filing proposals:  Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, 5:00 p.m.

3. Awardees will be notified by Friday, Oct. 30, 2009.
