The Office of Communications oversees six distinct areas:

News & Media Relations >>
The department serves as the liaison between the University and the news media by communicating newsworthy items to local, state and national news outlets of television, radio, print and online media.
Internal Communications & Resources >>
The Office of Communications provides effective tools and strategies to communicate with CSUSM faculty, staff and students.
Publications >>
Steps magazine tells the story of CSUSM, emphasizing programs, faculty scholars, student accomplishments, and the positive impact of CSUSM on the community. Additional publications are developed and produced for specific purposes, including Cougar Stats, an abbreviated reference guide to the University.
Branding & Marketing Communications >>
CSUSM actively seeks to establish a consistency of style and image that supports the University's growing reputation. The University's Institutional Identity Standards are regularly reviewed and updated to include graphic standards, website guidelines and lexicon.
Social Media >>
We manage University social media channels to engage and communicate with a variety of audiences, including students, faculty, staff and alumni. Our office sets the standards and promotes the best practices for social media across the CSUSM campus.
Website Development & Support >>
The CSUSM website is the University's electronic face to the world. The department oversees image, content and observance of website guidelines.
