CSUSM to Launch Leadership Southwest County in September 2012
Leadership North County (LNC) began in 1986 – as Leadership 2000 – with the vision of Fran Aleshire to create a strong and powerful network of leaders who understood the contemporary issues facing the region and had the influence to shape the future for the better. Today, 26 years later, LNC is now facilitated by California State University San Marcos in the spirit that Dr. Aleshire intended. With over 300 alums, LNC is a network of leaders that has, and continues to, influence the region for the better. Because of its demonstrated success, along with the presence of CSUSM in Southwest Riverside County (with a campus in Temecula), leaders from that region approached the university with the idea of replicating the leadership program in their area. After 18 months of planning, enthusiastic discussions of the benefits to the region and solid commitments from area partners like the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Southwest California EDC, Leadership Southwest County will begin September 2012. We have hired a talented program director, Jim McLaughlin, who is currently participating in LNC with an eye toward adapting the program for the Southwest Riverside region. While the program content is still being developed, we are accepting applications at www.csusm.edu/LSC. Feel free to contact Jim directly at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in being involved, either with the curriculum or with recruitment of participants.
