The CSUSM Library is housed within the Kellogg Library. Considered one of the jewels of the CSUSM campus, the 200,000 square foot Kellogg Library holds nearly 269,000 volumes, 2,774 print subscriptions, 19,000 e-journal titles, more than 1,500 computer files, 8,832 e-book titles, over 3,000 sound recordings, and more than 7,000 film and video recordings. A variety of art exhibits grace the lobby of the library.
The building, which opened in 2004, was named for Rancho Santa Fe philanthropists Jean and W. Keith Kellogg II, who began supporting the university in 1992 and have donated millions of dollars. Keith Kellogg II is the grandson of the cereal company founder. The couple received the first CSU San Marcos President’s Distinguished Service Award in May 1998. Jean Kellogg received the first honorary degree awarded by the campus at Commencement exercises in May 1999.
