ONR Award

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has recently awarded California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) with a $900,000 grant - $300,000 annually over the next 3 years, under the Energy SystemsTechnology Evaluation Program (ESTEP). Dr. Patricia Reilly, Director of the Epstein Family Veterans Center, is the project director heading up this new grant. About 11 percent of Cal State San Marcos students are veterans, service members, reservists or dependents/spouses, and that number is expected to grow as more military personnel retire or discharge and seek opportunities in the civilian world. This project will provide valuable opportunities for student veterans majoring in relevant disciplines to engage in research within ONR’s Energy Systems Technology Evaluation Program through various interships with military host organizations. This grant is a first for CSUSM and will support an estimated 15 veteran students annually.
