RESOURCES
Books in Spanish - The Center endeavors to collect all the books in Spanish for children and adolescents published worldwide since 1989. The Center's holdings also include children and adolescent classics and older books in Spanish of outstanding merit or popularity, reference materials, easy books, fiction, nonfiction, bilingual (Spanish/English), and Spanish translations of books from other languages. In addition, the Center attempts to collect all the textbooks in Spanish for grades K-12 published in the United States.

Books in English about Hispanics/Latinos - The Center collection seeks to include all books in English about Hispanic/Latino people and cultures for children and adolescents published in the United States since 1989. It also includes numerous books prior to 1989, thanks to generous donations. This resource contains easy books, fiction and nonfiction books about the people, history, geography, art, political, social, and economic problems of the countries in Latin America, Spain, and the Hispanic/Latino heritage people of the U.S.

Theoretical Support Material - The collection of theoretical studies includes works on the study and use of books in Spanish and books in English about Hispanics/Latinos for young readers as well as other works that deal with the promotion of literature for and about Hispanic/Latino children and adolescents. These titles are in English and Spanish, depending on the research of their countries of origin.

Journals - The Center collects the professional journals in the field of literature for young Hispanic/Latino readers in English and Spanish.

Catalogues - Publisher and vendor catalogues of books in Spanish for children and adolescents are collected as they become available.

ACTIVITIES

The Public Is Invited - The Center collection is open to the public Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm; Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm; and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Circulation of Materials - The Center invites the university and community to examine its resources on the premises. Duplicate titles are available for check-out.

Workshops - Three-day workshops regarding current issues on books in Spanish for young readers are conducted in the summer.

Reading Partners - Complement classroom teachers reading curriculum by providing individualized reading sessions with high-quality books.

Cafés Literarios - Informal discussions about books in Spanish and books in English about Hispanics/Latinos for children and adolescents are sponsored by the Center.
