Dr. Chuck DeLeone, Department of Physics, and several STEM Ambassadors attended the Carlsbad Beach Fest on Saturday, June 14th, to promote CSUSM and our STEM disiplines. Visitors had an opportunity to take a 10x10cm piece of foil and design a boat that would hold as many pennies as possible before sinking. Ocean water - complete with sand and kelp! - was used in the test tank.
