Cal State San Marcos is our local chapter. Our local chapter designation is Chapter 321. Our local chapter has stewards, a chief steward, a treasurer, a secretary, a communications committee, an executive board (eboard), a vice president and a president. Each month, your local chapter has an eboard meeting, a communications meeting and a stewards meeting, we attend a monthly Labor Relations Committee meeting with Human Resources, handle complaints and grievances, plan and hold information meetings for our members... I could go on, but you get the idea, we keep busy defending the contract and could always use a hand.
Labor Relations Representative (LRR)
Our local chapter has a union employee assigned to our campus to help us with union issues. Planning events, understanding issues, working on our behalf with management, etc… Our LRR (often pronounced “LUR”) is generally on campus once a week to take care of union business and attend our local chapter weekly governance meetings, help out with grievances, answer questions, attend labor management relations meetings, etc...
Each of the 23 campuses have a local union structure just like ours, as does the chancellors office. So there are 24 chapter presidents, vice presidents, chief stewards, etc… Further, there are officials elected for statewide governance. The statewide offices are President, Vice President for Member Engagement, Vice President for Finance and Vice President for Representation
Bargaining Unit Chairs/Vice Chairs
Each of the 4 bargaining units (2, 5, 7 & 9) have a Chair and a Vice Chair. These 8 people comprise the bulk of our bargaining team. This group of 8 people also currently sit on CSUEU’s Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors
The Board of Directors (BoD) is the state wide governing body of our union. Currently, each chapter president has a seat at the table of the board, as do the chairs and vice chairs of the bargaining units as well as the statewide officers. So, the BoD consists of 36 people. (8 from the bargaining team, 24 chapter presidents, and 4 statewide officers.) The Board of Directors meets at least 3 times a year to conduct union business.
CSUEU Statewide Officers
